I write songs the way I’ve always understood music, by paying attention to the world around me and trying to make some sense of it.
My sound probably sits somewhere in indie pop/rock, although I tend to follow the song rather than any particular style. Some tracks look at modern life, the pressure, the politics, and the oddness of the times we’re living in. Others are about love, in all its forms, the hopeful parts, the complicated parts, and the kind that keeps you going when things get tough.
I’ve always cared more about lyrics than anything else. The words matter to me. If a song doesn’t feel honest, it’s hard to hide behind a good melody.I’m probably guilty of spending too much time on production and arrangements, but I like songs to breathe and build properly rather than just rush to the point.
I suppose what I’m really trying to do is make the kind of music I grew up with, songs that meant something, albums you lived with. Nothing flashy. Just something real, and hopefully worth coming back to.
